Hundreds of landless people staged a protest

Following two days of protest, hundreds of landless and displaced individuals gathered at Maitighar Mandala in Kathmandu to voice their grievances regarding forced evictions and the lack of adequate housing solutions.

The protest, which began on Friday on the occasion of Republic Day, highlighted the ongoing struggle of landless people for housing rights. Many families have been evicted without sufficient notice and without being provided with alternative housing or relocation options.

Several protesters, including members of landless and displaced communities, joined the protest to condemn the government’s actions, particularly the harsh demolitions carried out with bulldozers that destroyed their homes and communities.
